Women’s Emmaus

About

The Emmaus ministry is based on Luke 24:13-35. Women’s Emmaus is a sisterhood in Christ that has been present at Holy Family for 25 years. Lives have been healed, changed and transformed because of the encounter with the Risen Lord, and the sisters who walk the Emmaus Road with one another.

Women’s Emmaus provides an annual retreat for women (ages 21 or older) in which to pray, reflect, and enrich their relationship with Jesus. The encounter with Jesus welcomes all who are willing to follow and meet Him wherever they may be in their life or faith. The retreat is led by lay women and encompasses a weekend from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. Following the weekend retreat and the spiritual insights that may develop, Emmaus sisters are encouraged to share their faith in whatever dimensions of love and service to which they are called. The fruits of the retreat are a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, causing them to answer the call of the Holy Spirit as they love and serve their families and their parish in new and wonderful ways. We continue to recognize Jesus in all that we do.

A monthly Emmaus Mass followed by sharing and further developing friendships is held on the third Saturday of every month. This is an opportunity to continue to foster the bond that was begun on the retreat as well as grow deeper in faith through reflection. We share how Jesus Christ is Risen and is present and walks alongside each of us.

Our Mission is to come to know the Love of Jesus in a more intimate and personal way through the testimonies shared, prayer, sharing and breaking bread with one another. To go forth alive in the Holy Spirit, to recognize the Risen Christ in yourself, family, faith community, and the sacraments. To have a greater desire to love and serve God in our parish and the community.
